Climate Change Steering Committee

The AASHTO Climate Change Steering Committee (CCSC) acts as a focal point and coordinating body for AASHTO’s various activities related to climate change. Steering committee members have two primary roles. First, they act as the focal point for the association on climate change policy issues, proving input to and review of climate change policy development. Second, members provide oversight and guidance to AASHTO’s Climate Change Technical Assistance Program.

The Technical Assistance Program is a new, voluntary program that provides timely information, tools and technical assistance to assist AASHTO members in meeting the difficult challenges that arise related to climate change. This program will be a critical resource for State Departments of Transportation to be proactive on climate change and be part of the climate change solution, as well as providing the information state DOTs need to engage in and influence climate change legislation at both the state and federal levels.

Steering committee members are chosen to represent each of the four AASHTO regions and to provide linkages to other AASHTO standing committees. The steering committee meets in person twice per year in combination with regular AASHTO meetings, and by conference call as-needed.
